From the
Office of
Adrian Smith, CPA
If you were looking for a real live CPA - Certified
Public Accountant, you know, someone to help you with your taxes or SOX
or a 1031 transaction, I'm sorry you've come to the wrong place.
If you are looking for Adrian Smith, CPA the Earth born accountant who
finds himself halfway across the galaxy in the midst of a very strange
black market where junk food and soft drinks are some of the most sought
after contraband, then you've come to the right place.
"Welcome to Japan Mister Smith" Sounds almost as
good as when Tetsuro Tamba said the same thing to Sean Connery.
Actually Adrian Smith galactic CPA is in Tokyo, Japan at
this very minute. With luck stacked high on the Freebie table at
the World Science Fiction Convention.
Thanks to the help of my nephew, Michael. I had flyers for
The Chronicles of Adrian Smith and When The Force Isn't
With you translated into Kanji. At least I hope he
translated them correctly and not as "Please buy my Uncle's silly book.
Gaijin needs the money." Actually I think book titles are
rather impressive in Kanji.

If you want to know more about the story here's a
quick synopsis. Adrian Smith is an Earth born accountant and not a
very good one at that. It took him far too many tries to pass the
CPA exam and only through his parent's influence did he manage to land a
job with a very small firm in San Jose. One night he is fed up
with his life and heads off to a beach north of Santa Cruz. Next
thing he knows, he has stumbled onto a space ship and finds himself
transported halfway across the galaxy at the mercy of one of the most
ruthless black marketeers in the galaxy. It turns out that what he
has learned as an accountant will not only save his life, but make him
incredibly successful in this new world. That success comes with a
high price. Dealing in contraband from Earth carries with it an
immediate death sentence. To discover the reason why, Adrian
Smith, CPA will need the help of T'Sam the indentured servant of his
fieriest rival, and the diary of a dieing alien who came to Earth in 1915.
Together they must follow his journey from the Amazon jungle, to San
Francisco's Pan-American Pacific International Exhibition to the
trenches of France at the dawn of World War I to unlock a dark secret
that has been hidden for nearly a century.
My son describes this books as an historic/science
fiction/romance. I think that fairly well sums it up. There
are some good reviews on Amazon.com.
Please come back soon to find out more about Adrian Smith
and the next books in the series. With luck and skill and good
fortune the next book, The Princess and the Parent will be out by the
end of this year. The King of Rags is not far behind.
Coming soon to this site will be, excerpts from The
Princess and The Parent, King of Rags, some rare photos retrieved from
Tracy Bennington's private collection, and a download of my interview
with Doug Benson of KCNS.
